Thinking of Maria brings smiles to both Charlie and I. We so fondly remember our "art" days here where Maria would knit and share recipes with Charlie while Mark would paint with the rest of us. Always upbeat and an inspiration to everyone. Maria cared so deeply for others and always looked up. Her faith touched me and continues to do so. We miss you Maria.

Over the few short years I have known Maria at the knitting group at St. George's Church, Goderich, I have admired her strength and courage during her battle with cancer. Her hopeful and cheerful attitude was always inspiring.

I first met Maria at St. Joseph's Trivia, and later would see her at Ancaster Film Fest. I always found her to be such a kind, caring gentle soul. We were very blessed to have gotten a chance to know Maria. She was extremely kind and thoughtful and always made us smile. I admired Maria for her spirit and faith. She was a joy to be around. Maria will be dearly missed by Charlie and I.

I met Maria through our mutual friend, Fr. Alex McCauley, when she was secretary at St. Joe's. She was always a lovely and warm, welcoming presence whenever I visited St. Joe's. Maria and I met in high school. Her and three other friends from high school (Marian, Janette and Antoinette) and I remained friends all these years. Maria first welcomed us to the St.Joe's community when we came 16 years ago. From booking our communion, confirmation, and anniversary receptions at the hall, to ordering us around while making Belgian cookies for the bazaar, Maria was an integral part of St. Joe's parish life. She knew everyone, and always seemed able to navigate sensitive parish issues with grace and respect. Maria was a strong and beautiful woman who always looked like a million bucks! I'll miss our shoe conversations and our hugs at the sign of peace. She was a strength to me during my family's hard times, and I wish the same strength for her family during theirs.
